Riprap Entertainment

Everything you ever wanted to know about Riprap Entertainment, its creator Sandra Nutt and then some!

Riprap Entertainment was created January 1, 1999 for the sole purpose of establishing Riprap Writers' Playhouse and promoting writers and actors worldwide. A most significant element of our endeavor is to reward deserving artists with the Riprap Award which is, and will always be, a free opportunity to submit.

Riprap Writer's Playhouse was originally produced at local cable access facilities in Los Angeles, California and aired throughout Los Angeles and Manhattan. Production of the original Riprap Writers' Playhouse broadcast has been discontinued and replaced with the FIRST LOOK COLLABORATION broadcast. This new directions broadens our scope and allows us to include filmmakers. We are still here to help artists build a solid foundation. Our new thrust is a valuable asset to all artists who frequent our site, join as members and take advantage of the opportunities and information available.

Creator - Executive Producer

[Sandra Maria Nutt, creator of Riprap Riprap Writers' Playhouse]Who created this concept? Actress, Writer, Producer, Sandra Maria Nutt. I am the sole creator and driving force behind FIRST LOOK COLLABORATION, the replacement of Riprap Writers' Playhouse. I am sure by now you have read other things about me as you have researched this web site. I will try not to be redundant. After all, I am not trying to bore you. I'm hopeful that our association will bring enlightenment.

Let's start at the beginning. When I finished writing my first screenplay, I was taken aback by all the critics. Suddenly, everyone was either writing a screenplay or they were an authority. Upon further investigation I found that not only were these people lacking in authority but they usually hadn't finished the one and only screenplay they were supposedly writing. Admittedly, I am always quite surprised. But, having more stories I want to put on paper, I forge ahead.

When I conceived my original concept I knew I wanted a web site. But the very nature of the concept made it impossible to pay someone $500, $800 or $1,000 to create that presence. Since necessity is the mother of invention, I bought a book on HTML. A month later I was able to expose Riprap Writers' Playhouse to the World Wide Web.

I started out an actress and, while my horizons have broadened, my first love is and will always be acting and therefore, I hope you will stay abreast of what's going on at Riprap Studio Theatre and come out and see me and other talented artists perform. Just as I took the time to learn my craft as an actress I have taken the time to learn about screenwriting. Like acting, I'm still learning. Not long ago, I took it upon myself to learn to produce. I'm still learning that as well but I am producing. Along the way I have acquired a lot of equipment and a lot of bumps and bruises. Hopefully, my web site can prevent you from getting some of those bumps and bruises and we can learn together.

As actress, writer, producer I have run head on into the same detours that you have and will continue to encounter. From directors that want something other than to direct, to literary services that want up front money and contests and web sites galore with entry fees that never end.

I believe that some place there has to be a safe haven for writers; a place where they can submit their work and, on its merit, have an equal opportunity to be recognized for it. I believe this web site and what we have to offer at with FIRST LOOK COLLABORATION, is that place.

I would like to take this time to welcome you to participate in this recently updated opportunity.
