PRESERVING YOUR FAMILY HISTORY
A family tree is much more than names on a page. Explore different
techniques of compiling and preserving your family's history. Through the use of
photos, biographies, journals, family interviews, home movies, and more, you'll be
able to create a rich living history that can be passed down from generation
to generation. Presented in the course are several resources and family
research strategies to reveal family genealogy. Completed family's "history books"
are also displayed to provide students with a visual understanding of
preserving a family history.

PLAYWRITING (a one-day seminar)
Learn the basics of playwriting. We'll cover story structure, character
development, script formatting, and marketing approaches. Participants will leave
prepared to begin scripting a play. Brown-bag snack suggested.

WRITING FOR TELEVISION
Learn how to develop an episodic TV script using the writing process behind
your
favorite shows. Students will work towards writing a spec script for an
existing sit-com, children's TV series, one-hour drama, or may chose to develop a
script for a new TV series of their own creation. Sit-com and one-hour drama
story structure will be discussed along with the development of characters
for TV.

PLAYWRITING
Learn story structure, how to develop memorable characters, places to find
story ideas, exercises to jump-start your creativity, marketing approaches, and
much more. In this course you will develop a detailed story outline and work
towards writing the first draft of your play.

WRITING FOR CHILDREN
Learn the essential elements of creating engaging children's stories
including: story language, developing memorable characters, and story structure.
Students will have the opportunity to write an original short story or begin a
chapter book. Marketing approaches will also be discussed.

Mr. Putt's plays have been showcased in New York, New Jersey,
Pennsylvania, and California. His comedy A Different Blend of
Friendship won the New Jersey Wordsmith Competition and received
an AEA staged reading at The Northeast Theatre. The nationally
syndicated radio-theatre program "Shoestring Radio Theatre"
produced and aired several radio plays Mr. Putt wrote including
The Reign of Leaves and The Treasure Hunt. He served as head
writer on the episodic, comedy-horror, TV show "In the Cellar"
that airs in California and Massachusetts. Mr. Putt is currently
working on a dark-comedy screenplay for Omega Entertainment of Beverly
Hills, CA and writing the pilot for a new teen-drama series entitled
"Famous" for Piper Pictures of Sydney Australia. He received a B.F.A.
degree with honors in Dramatic Writing from NYU - Tisch School of the
Arts. Mr. Putt is a member of the Dramatists Guild of America and
the American Renaissance Theater Company.
