What to Prepare: Sides from the play are listed below next to each role.

Call Back Info: NOTE: WE WILL BE DARK ON THE HOLIDAY WEEK-ENDS. And we will TRY to make a 11/7/2008 open but it will be pushed back a week if necessary.

Project Notes: An hysterical TWO ACT COMEDY. OPEN to ALL RACES. All ethnicities please apply!

This witty comedy never lets the audience off the hook and each role is terrifically funny. We are looking for a STRONG ENSEMBLE where everyone shines.

Mr. Keliher is a published author and has completed several films and televisions that have aired in Canada and the United States.

David L. Stewart directed our last production which was extended twice. And an LA Weekly Pick of the Week!

NOTE: Each of these roles has a WIDE AGE RANGE because we are more concerned with an ensemble that gels and terrific talent than being specific to the age.

PETER WITTE - Lead / MALE / 30 TO 65
. Helpful Skills - STRONG STAGE ACTOR - a tour de force role. Witty but self-deprecating. Early Fifties; Early Forties. Successful screenwriter and unsuccessful playwright. Having a pity-party for himself and decides to commit suicide while his friends watch. Becomes inebriated as the play continues. [Above is author description; age is open; see project notes.] Click Here for SIDES SET ONE for PETER in PDF format. If you can't pull these up email sandy@riprapentertain.com and we'll email them directly. Please note, we may have more sides at the actual audition.

CAROL - Featured / FEMALE / 35 TO 65
. Peter's ex-wife. Mid-forties. Again, this is as written by the author, but we are going to be flexible with age. Our first goal is talent, then an ensemble that gels and then FUN! Click Here for SIDES in PDF format. If you can't pull these up email sandy@riprapentertain.com and we'll email them directly. Please note, we may have more sides at the actual audition.

RONA - Lead / FEMALE / 28 TO 45
. Actress, thirtyish and sexy, nice legs. Rona is a bit self-absorbed but genuinely concerned about Peter. She plays a "hooker" in his stage play and looks the part. There is a scene where her "boob" pops out of her shirt. This will happen with the BRA ON - no nudity. She has GREAT legs that are visible to all and actually may turn the priest away from the Priesthood! Again, the age is as written by the author, but we are going to be flexible with age. Our first goal is talent, then an ensemble that gels and then FUN! If you think this sounds like you, please submit. Click Here for SIDES in PDF format. If you can't pull these up email sandy@riprapentertain.com and we'll email them directly. Please note, we may have more sides at the actual audition.

MRS. CRAMER - FEMALE / 19 TO 99
. Helpful Skills - Funny, funny, funny - dry humour - KILLER ROLE. Mrs. Cramer is Peter's next-door neighbor. Eighty-years old with a taste for the grape. Mrs. Cramer has some show-stopping dialogue, done by the right actress. She's on stage for almost the entire play. The age is as written by the author, but we are going to be flexible. She does have to be "oldish" in the sense that she's over say - 60ish for purposes of the dialogue. But we're so open to a young person who can "get it", and make the audience feel the essence of an older lady who could die tomorrow and is going to have a drink on her way out. Our first goal is talent, then an ensemble that gels and then FUN! If you think this sounds like you, please submit. Bring what you got!

FR. FINN - MALE / 21 TO 35
. Helpful Skills - MUST LOOK YOUNG! Catholic Priest. Twenty-four. Confused but with a noble spirit. Can't stop looking at Rona's legs but a good kid. Click Here for SIDES in PDF format. If you can't pull these up email sandy@riprapentertain.com and we'll email them directly. Please note, we may have more sides at the actual audition.
Father Finn Additional Sides in WORD format, pages 24-25. CLICK HERE.

JACK / JACKIE NOONAN - MALE OR FEMALE / 25 TO 99
. Peter's Agent. The butt of a few jokes but seriously concerned about Peter trying to off himself. Great role for someone good at pratt falls. Click Here for SIDES in PDF format. If you can't pull these up email sandy@riprapentertain.com and we'll email them directly. Please note, we may have more sides at the actual audition.

OFFICER - MALE / 30 TO 50
. Man - thirty-ish. Comes on later in the play - he is found on the street by Rona to help stop Peter from killing himself and this officer becomes fully involved in the entire scheme. He has a little humorous difficulty at first figuring out exactly what is going on and why he should arrest anyone but engages with Peter's friends in order to stop Peter's crazy suicide scheme. Click Here for SIDES in PDF format. If you can't pull these up email sandy@riprapentertain.com and we'll email them directly. Please note, we may have more sides at the actual audition.

Story Line: This is an hysterical, fast-paced, sexy, comedy. Laugh out loud comedy. WITTE’s END is a two-act comedy with a cast of seven. “A comedy about life and death as seen from the bottom of a glass.” Peter Witte is going to end it all because he’s a self-titled “hack” screenwriter who cannot find legitimacy with his stage plays. He has five bottles of wine, one of which contains poison. He opens each bottle in a game of Russian Roulette, while his friends/neighbor watch in horror with humorous anecdotes and commentary as well as fear that any bottle may be the one containing the poison.

[August 14, 2008] There are no open auditions at this time. We are now forming a DUES PAYING ENSEMBLE with GREAT benefits but we will ALWAYS continue to have open auditions for non-member participation at Riprap Studio Theatre because I do not believe in closed groups. You do not have to become a member to audition when it is posted on this page. If you are, however, interested in the ensemble, please click here.
